Our vision is to create a local centre that feels genuinely part of Moncrieff, a place that supports everyday life, reflects the character of the suburb, and evolves as the community grows.
The vision for the Moncrieff local centre has been shaped by more than the current proposal. In 2021, the ACT Government undertook a comprehensive community and stakeholder consultation process to understand how the local community wanted these sites to develop over time.
Through surveys, workshops, pop‑ups, meetings with the Gungahlin Community Council and direct conversations with nearby neighbours, residents from Moncrieff, Taylor and surrounding Gungahlin suburbs shared clear and consistent priorities for the site.
That earlier feedback highlighted the importance of:
Woolworths has used this feedback as a foundation in developing the proposed local centre. The intention has been to respect the direction set through earlier conversations and translate those community priorities into a practical, well‑designed and locally responsive outcome.
The proposal aims to deliver a modern, convenient supermarket supported by a small mix of complementary retailers, safe pedestrian and cycling connections, and a layout designed for easy access. The design will prioritise safety, comfort and practicality, with landscaping and architectural elements that fit naturally within the local setting.
We are committed to delivering a quality local centre that provides genuine value for nearby residents, encourages community activity, and contributes to a connected, thriving neighbourhood.
This project aims to provide a welcoming, accessible place for people to shop, meet and connect as part of their daily routines in Moncrieff.
